Blaenafon Mountain Tours

Explore beautiful Torfaen by bike or foot.

We offer a range of cycles to suit able bodied and disabled cyclists. We also cater for families with the availability to hire child seats, trailers, and tag-along cycles. Guided walks of varying lengths and abilities by prior arrangement, priced at £50.00 per group, max 8 people.
The cycles are based at Garn Lakes, a landscaped area of beauty, suitable for a short family ride, linking in to the national cycle network, route 46, with scenic views of the valleys as you cycle along a disused railway line.

Booking essential for all activities..

We run a small fleet of disabled cycles, from small adult tricycles, geared and un-geared, to geared side by side tandems, a geared hand cycle and a 5 geared full wheelchair cycle. The wheelchair cycle can have the wheelchair detached if access is needed to other areas, it then becomes a standard wheelchair in size.

We run a fleet of able bodied cycles to cover all ages from 1 year to adult. We have child seats, child trailers which can seat 2 small children, and tag along (tandem) attachments.
Helmets are available free of charge upon request. We also offer a collection service should the thought of cycling back to Blaenavon (uphill) be less than appealing.

We have preset walks available to suit most people, but we can also tailor a walk to suit a specific need or purpose. Come and explore the forgotten landscape from the industrial era. Scenery varies from disused coal mining, former railway lines, upland moors, glacial lakes and stunning views over the surrounding area.

There is one walk in the itinerary for those of you who like a challenge. A walk of 24 miles over two days, with a stop at a campsite or camping barn, (depending on customers request and availability) covering the border of the world heritage area of Blaenavon. It is over rough terrain, with two descents to the valley floor, and corresponding two ascents to the valley peaks. Come and walk along the canal towpath, built 100 metres up on the side of a mountain. Prices dependant on accommodation required (prices on application)

The former mining town of Blaenavon was awarded World Heritage status in 2001, as it is a well preserved example of the coal and steel industry, both with its buildings and its landscape. Several areas of the landscape are designated SSSI areas (Site of Special Scientific Interest)

Based in the world heritage area of Blaenavon.
